Shipyard Trust for the Arts (STAR) invites all Hunters Point Shipyard artists to submit works for an exhibit focused on labor connected to the Hunters Point Shipyard and the Bayview Hunters Point community. The show will explore Black labor—past and present—including work during World War II, the ongoing cleanup efforts, and the labor shaping the community today. As the exhibit extends into March, it will also highlight women’s (of any race) contributions to labor in this community.
Co-curated by STAR’s artists in residence under the mentorship of William Rhodes, the exhibit will feature an opening reception, an artist talk by participating artists, a visit with local children and seniors, and an event focused on current day labor challenges. Input to those events welcome!
You can sign up for the exhibit at any time, deadline is
